grouping and centering

I know how to center one layer to another. But what if I have a few layers, and I would like those grouped, and then the whole group centered to another layer, so the objects in the original group remain in the same alignment to each other? How can I do this?

In PS 7, I link the objects I want to group together then choose "new layer set from linked." Then you link the set (just the set, not all the individual layers) to the layer you want to align with and align. I think sets are ‘groups’ in the latest ps versions, but you get the idea.

Hmmm, it sounds like what I am looking for. I also have PS 7. I link. the objects together, then all I see is "create a new set" at the bottow of the layers window. This doesn’t seem to work the way I want. Am I choosing the wrong thing? I don’t see "new layer set from linked".

There’s a flyout menu from the small arrow at the top right of the layers palette. Click on that and you’ll see "new set from linked."
