In Photoshop 9.0.2, when clicking on a single layer within a group to move it, the group folder will become active & the whole group will move. The layers are not linked and only the single layer is highlighted in the layers palette when starting.

As this paragraph from adobepress.com states, this should not be the case:

"Groups can also be useful when you want to reorganize the layers in your image. If one of the layers within a group is active, then using the Move tool will affect only that layer (unless it’s linked to other layers). If the group is active, then using the Move tool will move all the layers within that group."

Any help would be appreciated. I’m working on a 2.66 GHz MacPro Dual-Core Intel Xeon with 4 GB of RAM Running Mac OSX 10.4.7

Look in the Options Bar to make sure that you have not checked either Auto Select Layer or Auto Select Group.

Ann, both those options were selected. Thank you for the help, it was a very frustrating Friday!
