Bridge not showing RAW thumbs in CS2

Hey,

I installed CS2 the other night and used the trial option because I hadn’t gotten my serial number email yet. I downloaded the new Camera Raw to view the RAW from my 5d. Bridge worked fine, giving me previews of the raw files. Then I got the serial and figured out I needed to reinstall and give the serial number during the install. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled and things went fine. Put the RAW plugin back in the folder, although oddly enough, there was no original file to replace. But things went fine.

Now, though, while CS2 can open the RAW file if I randomly click on one in Bridge, I can’t see preview thumbnails in Bridge. Just file icons. Anyone have any ideas?

Thx. oj

That’s because you have put it in the wrong folder. ACR is no longer a Photoshop only plugin, so it should not be installed in the Photoshop plugins folder. That why you didn’t find one there. The ‘Read Me’ file tells you where to install it.

Because you installed the new version in the wrong place, only Photoshop can now use it. Bridge still uses the older version that was reinstalled when you reinstalled Photoshop.

Hmm. Now that’s interesting.

I’ve been wondering why my Canon 350XT RAW files (CR2) only show an icon when displayed in Bridge. It hasn’t seriously bothered me because RAW files from camera also carry a .jpg file which displays in Bridge.

On my Fuji S7000 – the RAF (RAW files) display small image of picture in Bridge. They do not tag along a .jpg file.

No serious problem for me in either case.

Best,

Install ACR in the proper place and your 350XT RAW files will display in Bridge in their full glory.

Thanks. I must have done it correctly the first time because I had the readMe open. Now, I just have to find the readMe :).

If you have a Macintosh, you must install it in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2/File Formats/

If you use Windows, you’re on your own.

It needs to go here:
program files\common files\adobe\plug-ins\cs2\file formats
