I just upgraded to Photoshop CS from Photoshop 6. I see Photoshop 6 is still installed. I assume PS6 is a standalone installation, but not sure if uninstalling it will affect CS?

Thanks for your help.

You can safely uninstall 6.0 but my advice is to leave it until you’re up and running comfortably with CS. But if you do uninstall, make sure to say no to uninstalling any shared files.

Thanks Bob, I’ll leave it installed for a few weeks, then zap it if everything goes well.

Except that you’ll get the version 6 psicon.dll file. I’ve found that the version 6 psicon.dll doesn’t play well with CS (black or partially black icons when viewing in Explorer thumbnail view). I don’t have any of these problems with the version 7 psicon.dll. Disclaimer – this was tested on only two machines so YMMV…

But if you do uninstall, make sure
to say no to uninstalling any shared files.
