Greetings:

I’m upgrading a client’s computer and her main program is Photoshop. Her Dell 8250 has a 533MHz FSB and currently has 2 128MB PC1066 RIMMs installed.

The machine can accept a maximum of 2GB of memory if PC800 is used or
1.5GB of memory if PC1066 is used.

Would the difference in clock speed be of bigger benefit than the actual amount of memory in the machine? I’m willing to dump the 2 RIMMs that are in there now if more memory would be of bigger benefit.

Thanks!!

Faster FSB will help many parts of the system. The extra 512 RAM would only be used on occasion for most people…

Wrong answer. Again.

OP – Get thee to the HELP menu for starters. More spindles means better performance in photoshop. Three is very good. More RAM is good, too. 2gb will let you allocate a safe 70% to PS and leave room for the OS and other programs to live in RAM.
