My CD backup emages are corrupt and will not open in PS. Any help is appreciated. With JPGs I get the following error message .. "could not complete request because of an unknown or invalid jpeg marker is found"

With eps files I get "..parser module could not parse the object"

any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

David

Do you have Illustrator? You might try placing/importing the images into Illustrator, Freehand, Expression or such and see if you can resave them.

Sorry, that's all I can think of,

IrfanView is more forgiving of errors in files than Photoshop - if it will open the file then you can re-save it and PS will then be able to open it.

What did you use for a backup program? I had a client who saved to CD in some oddball compressed form, but the file extensions were not changed to reflect it. Of course they opened with the same errors you see.

The software you seek is called Digital Image Recovery. Unfortunately the site I got it from no longer offers it free. Have a look here. http://63.141.194.5/dir/ and maybe you'll find the cost affordable.
