Errr I thought this was rather obvious, a texture is like wood grain or stone etc where as a tile would contain a pattern. From that you can see that a pattern can also be a texture e.g. in the case of a wood effect tiled background in a web page.

Texture is to modify the text you write to make more colorful and change its shapes when the patterns are already designed textures or pictures that you only add to your page you are working on.
