Selection

I'm using PS 7

How to get a selection from a layer. I have background image and a layer image. Layer is small rectangle. How to make selection rectangle exactly how the layer size is and exactly in sthe same place where layer is placed.

Is the rectangle on a transparent background? If so, Ctrl-click on that layer in the Layers palette(Command-click for Mac).

If not on a transparent background try the Magic Wand.
