Newby- Moving 1 image to another canvas

Hi,

I have an 121mm x 240mm image layer which is made up of merged layers.

I want to place on a larger A3 canvas for eventaul print to that size,

I have duplicated the orig image then dragged it to the larger canvas but it reduces in size dramatically.

How should I do this function so it shows on the A3 as the correct size?

Also,

If my layer is CMYK what do I have to be sure of doing when I print it to a pdf file but for black and white printing.

Rock, make sure the resolution of your new psd matches your original psd.

More details please.

Are you making it in CMYK because you need both a color and a grayscale version? I'd save a copy of it, then change the mode to grayscale, then you may need to adjust curves or levels to get the contrast you want. If you are working only with black and really want just black and white, after you grayscale you will need to change the mode to bitmap.

This being for print, what kind of print? What resolution are you working in? Is the image to be imported into another program? Does the background need to be transparent? Since you mentioned A3, are you trying to do a whole layout in Photoshop?

Make sure that the duplicate image and the empty A3 image have the same resolution.

Yes I have at least done that, hopefully correctly.

I inadvertantly started off the canvas in CMYK and brought in photo images some color, mainly B&W and then wrote plenty of black text. There is one layer of a very light grey image which the test will set on.

I will do as you suggest with the grayscale change to try and correct my newby goofup!
I guess the bottom line is they are all the same mode and res including the canvases. Correct?

This being for print, what kind of print? What resolution are you working in?

Eventually the print is by a commercial printer, possibly digital I guess. They have asked for a res of 300.

No it is white going onto white paper

Since you mentioned A3, are you trying to

do a whole layout in Photoshop?

Well I did about 6 layouts and thought it would be cheaper to put the all on an A3 as they are all the same color etc etc. My idea was to take them to the A3 in PS, set them out as I want them then print an A3 pdf file they want to use to print.

I have Corel 10 which I am doing okay on.. should I use this? If so how is the best way to get them there?
