Align option for Clone tool

using the clone stamp tool i select the aligned option and sample an area and start painting. i let go of the mouse and click again, but it does not sample from the original location. isn’t that what it is supposed to do with the "aligned" option turned on? shouldn’t it always continue to sample from the original location?

Options bar at the top – Aligned checkbox. Uncheck it, and it will always sample from the original source.
