Rotate Text - Problem

Hi

Having a spot of bother with rotating type.

My daughter is designing a CD cover & back for part of her school coursework. If you take out the rear card from a music CD case you will see that the text that folds to make the edge of the CD jewel case is rotated through 90 deg with respect to the text on the back cover. To achieve this, Photoshop help says:

Choose Rotate Character from the Character palette menu. A check mark indicates that the option is selected.

I cant see Rotate Character. I have 'rotate text orientation' at the left hand end of the palette, but that is not the same thing.

Can anyone please help. Thanks in advance.

Get the Character palette by clicking on the little palette icon on the far right of the Options Bar or going to Window>Character. Click the little triangle in the upper right of the palette and a menu will fly out. With the text selected choose Change Character Orientation or Rotate Character.

Mark, use the Free transform tool. With the text layer selected, Ctrtl + T to set free transform. Hold down the Shift key and hold your cursor just outside one of the corners until it turns into a double headed arched arrow and drag. With the shift key down it will snap every 15 degrees.
