Tools inoperative after Wacom install

Hi everybody,

Replaced my old mouse with a Wacom Graphire 2 tablet/mouse combo last week, and since then I've got a problem.

During almost every PS session suddenly the editing tools stop working. I mean burn/dodge/stamp/healing etc..
They are still selectable and when I apply them the history palet does register the edits, but nothing happens to the image.
It's just like accidently having the wrong layer active.

The awkward thing is: I have to quit PS, and delete the pref file, relaunch PS, go through the prefs and set them to my liking and proceed with my work for anything between 5 minutes and an hour, and then go through it again.

A forum search brought up only the advice to delete the prefs file...

Got Win 2000 pro SP2 / PS 7.01.

The old mouse is broken. It's switched off in device manager.

Any clue?

Think I found out myself:

Various things may cause bad Wacom behaviour, but now it looks as if more than one problem is solved.

The problem I had in PS looks to be caused by radio interference. This caused the tablet to be too "busy" to parse it's mouse/pen movement to PS. This RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) also caused occasional "shivering" of the cursor (in all apps)

Being an active HAM-radio operator I have some RFI here. Also a cell phone next to the tablet caused the cursor to go berserk when someone dropped me a line.

I've put the tablet flat against the face of my monitor (Philips 109S) with noticable influence there.

Ok I also downloaded the latest driver for the Wacom Graphire 2, and my prob seemes to be gone...

Any further ideas and I'll put them here.
