Correcting scans of misregistered colour illustrations

I have to scan some colour illustrations from an old 1916 book about ANZAC history. The problem is that the original book illustrations are out of register, i.e. the magenta separation has printed about 1 mm below the yellow and cyan ones, giving a coloured "double-edge" effect.

Is there any way I can correct this at the scan and/or Photoshop stage, so that all the colours are registered correctly? The final output is destined for a T-shirt design.

Any help would be appreciated. Ta.

Mike, there is, of course, no "automatic" way. By making careful selections, you could spearate all the misregistered colors to individual layers, which will allow you to tune their positions.

You might try converting the images into CMYK mode and then offsetting the channels a bit.

But as John said, I believe there's no automatic thing.

I used Gustavo's suggestion to nudge the magenta channel slightly, and then John's selection idea to eye-dropper select any remaining fringe colours in Hue & Saturation, lower the saturation and darken.

Looks a whole lot better!

Thanks to you both.
