I want to create a background that is filled with an image that I have that is 1px (w) X 5px (h). It could fill from left to right and then top to bottom. If I create a new image and give the dimensions how would I then fill the background with this 1×5 image?

I am trying out PS for the first time and am using the demo of PS CS6 for 30 days.

Thanks,
Linda

Select your 1 x 5 image
Choose Edit / Define Pattern and give it a name.
Create your new image
Click Paint Bucket Tool
On the toolbar (where it usually says ‘foreground’) choose Pattern. Click the down arrow on the preset box and there is your pattern waiting for use.
Hope that helps
