Hell all, Im a bit new here so testing the waters with a couple questions i’ve been having.

#1, when people talk about photoshop actions, is that the same as photoshop scripting?

#2, I have been working on using an action that takes the current image, makes a pattern out of it, then makes a new image and paints that pattern into it. The problem is, it works fine the first time you do it, but if you load a new image and run the action again, it keeps painting using the original pattern and not using any of the newly created patterns. I even made my action delete the pattern when it is done with it, and this is not helping still.

No. Scripting can do many of the same things as actions, but can do more — like compare values, and launch other programs, etc. You can also create interface components. For scripting you’ll have to be able to write JavaScript, Visual Basic or AppleScript, depending. Actions don’t get into code…usually. I’ve edited some that way, but generally you won’t need or want to.

the reference recorded in the action will be to a pattern ID…I’ve tried this same thing before and didn’t quite find the work-around. You might try asking al ward (http://actionfx.com).
