In this quick Photoshop Tips article I will list the main available shortcuts for the Brush Tool. The most used is the brush size shortcut, but it is useful to know other shortcuts like the brush opacity shortcut or the brush hardness shortcut.

There is a not well known trick to set brush size and hardness in Photoshop CS5 (I think this also works for CS4):

Select the brush tool, then press and hold the right mouse button and the Alt key: move the mouse to the right or left to increase or decrease the size and move up or down to controll hardness

You can also une this trick with other tools such as eraser, clone, healing brush, sponge, burn, etc

I find it easier to just press the left/right Square brackets to decrease/increase the size.
Sounds like a good trick though and will try it out.
