Thanks to Joel for his fast answer. I had the same vague notions about reinstalling from fresh/reinstalling over the existing program, which was my reason for asking here, Sorry, Joel, your answer didn’t make me any wiser.
Thanks to John Stafford for the otherwise very usable link to ‘How to delete/reset Photoshop preferences’. Sadly enough it contains no solution to my problem with ‘Image – Canvas Size’, maybe because it’s about a command, not a tool. I know removing the Preference File doesn’t work for me, because I tried it out last Friday before annoying this group with my question.
So unless somebody comes up with another suggestion, I’ll just try to see if I can install over the existing program.
I will let you know the outcome.
You should have known that Adobe or any all software companies can’t have all solutions for all problems, so they pretty much use the very general information for almost all issues.
The RESET usually reset some setting which may cause some problem, but if some file get damaged or something is more than resetting then you may not only have to reinstall, but in some case you may even have to find some util to remove all registries.
And as I have mentioned that installing over the existing one might and might not work.
Reinstalling from fresh has more chance, but there may be a small chance that it may not work because of something in registry, or your Photoshop conflicts with some programs installed in your system.
In general, some anti-virus program can cause problem, and years ago Norton was a well known program causing problem to many programs, and Photoshop was one of them. Later and current, some version of ZoneAlarm may cause problem to some program (especially losing internet connection).
And I don’t think this will make you any wiser either, but that’s life.
