Selection from text

Hi peeps

i'm sure i used to do this but have forgotten how .

Have some large bold text on a layer, make a selection of that text on a new layer

any help please

In the layers pallet, right click on the layer's icon (not the text to the right of it) and click on 'Select Pixels'.

Alternatively: Ctrl click the layer icon, but note that both methods do not put the text on a new layer. You have to rasterrize the text first.
