P doesn't display file sizes the way I want

When I type my file sizes, rounded off to the nearest one-sixteenth of an inch, Photoshop computes and displays the sizes to the nearest one-thousandth of an inch.

For example, if I make an image 11 by 41.5 inches in Image > Image Size, the sizes change automatically to "11.001" and "41.499".

How can I get the file sizes to remain the sizes that I type them?

I'm using CS3.

That's because of floating point arithmetic.

This limitation is due to the size of the pixels. Normally I would just ignore the difference. If you need it to be exact for some reason, make sure the Resample box is checked.

i.e. you are using Image > Image Size for downscaling the image?

It's easier for me just try to ignore the problem than to make the original lengths measured in px divisible by 16, which would be adding considerably to the problem rather than reducing or eliminating it.
