I’ve been running CS2 for a while now, haven’t changed anything. But the performance has been getting steadily worse and worse. It’s now so bad that even basic operations (choosing a color) causes the program to become unresponsive for up to a full minute. My hard drives all have plenty of room, I’ve got 2GB of ram and nothing else running. Even the Task Manager doesn’t show anything abnormally high during these freezes, like CPU ramping up to 100% or that sort of thing. Photoshop just flat out freezes doing almost anything other than just straight painting. (Or otherwise using the tools.) I’m not working on large documents either – on the contrary, I’m dealing with icon-sized here, 40x40px. It’s getting well nigh impossible to get anything done because I have to wait every time I do anything for the program to become responsive again. Any idea what could be causing this performance degradation?
