Files won;t open in BRidge

same day took 3 series of images
from same camera Canon 10D
uploaded and open in Bridge
append metadata
applied same template to all 3

first series double click images in bridge brings up RAW dialog as per usual

second & third series double-click opens image in PS click any file in second and third batch>>> option for RAW is greyed out tried open as RAW in PS> program cannot recognize file type?

3 finger salute in Bridge
reset preferences to default- closed re-open same result purged cache- same result
delete Bridge files from folder where pics are stored- same result

any ideas?
