Just use Photoshop itself, I did these
http://www.btinternet.com/~paul.reynolds75/school.htm a few days ago, the top one is not to good as you can see but the other two worked out great. the full resolution versions work out to be well over 5 feet in length using a Fuji 601 digicam. always work in 300dpi as you can downsize afterwards.

Hello all,

I've recently redecorated our lounge room. On one wall (above the entertainment unit) I used to have two framed Beatles posters. I would now like to replace them with a different panorama style framed picture approximately 4 feet x 2 feet. I've seen some nice panorama style prints
in
the art shops, at around $AU300, however, I'd really like to take the shot myself. I have a Canon A70 (3.2 MP), Photoshop 7 and Genuine Fractals 3. Questions:
1. If I make a panorama using the Stitch software that came with my
camera,
what dpi setting should I use for the output? (300 dpi?) Is there a better software people recommend for panoramas?
2. Should I save the output as tiff or jpg? (tiff is a bigger file size)
3. Genuine Fractals allows me to "upsize" my pic to specific height/width.
Should I do this before saving the pic?
4. If I use my wide-angled lens to take a photo (not a panorama) can I
have
the pic printed at 4'x2' as long as "constrain proportions" is checked in
G
Fractals?

I apologise if these are basic questions, but I've been doing digital photography for only a few months, and still coming to grips with the printing process/dpi/ etc. All advice appreciated.
Cheers,
Paul

Thank you, the file sizes average about 150 to 200mb in *PSD format and around 20mb in jpeg.

Bigtallguy,

Thanks so much for your reply. The panoramas are excellent. I've yet to figure out how to stitch images effectively in PS...the stitch software
I've
got does it automatically. What is the file size of your full resolution images?

i used qimage as PS7 has a max file printing size which limits you. http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/

i also print them myself on my epson 2100 with 8" roll paper at 175 dpi and they look like lab prints to me! (i am a pro photographer)

see examples of mine at www.thephotographer.me.uk go to the gallery then to panoramas (you will need to scroll to see them in full)

2. Should I save the output as tiff or jpg? (tiff is a bigger file size)

you should save as a tiff this will allow you to work on the file without degrading it

3. Genuine Fractals allows me to "upsize" my pic to specific height/width. Should I do this before saving the pic?

no. qimage will do this for you just as well

i suppose so, not sure it would be that great tho'

Well fist off you need to know the aprox size you need. And a 4 foot by 2 foot isn't a panoramic picture.
With that for your size. I guess you could use the stitch program to connect a 2 x 2 pictures into one
big one. And then used the fractals program to increase the size and send off to a printer to print it.

Of those two, PSD, but you're better off saving in lossless TIFF which everything recognises.
