Problem With Image Distortion

I am new to Photoshop. I'm creating some website banners. They're beautiful. When I save them and open them, they look great. When I link to them on the web, they look awful. They're distorted - badly. I've rebuilt the images several times and each time, I get the same result. Is this a resolution issue? Is it something else?

are you changing width and height with css or attributes in html? that'd do it.

if not, a picture's worth a thousand words. give a link to the banner in regular form (gif or jpg etc) and on a web page, or a screen shot of the web page where it's distorted. what code are you using to display the image on the page?

How about open with other applications or browse in Bridge?
