Hello,

Can somebody tell me the method of separating a shadow from a layer where you added that shadow ?

I haven’t use this technique in years, but wanted to try this, and now cannot seem to do it. I remember way back, there was a simple command to accomplish this, and it seems to no longer exist.

thanks !

Dave.

1. duplicate the layer with the shadow
2. set this new layer with fill opacity to zero
3. remove the shadow from the original layer

In the Layers Palette, Right-click on the drop shadow layer; select "Create Layer". Done!

Hi John,

I’m very glad you posted, I never thought of clicking on the layer effect ( right clicking ) to reveal that. Doh !, it’s been there all along.

Thanks John,

Dave.
