CS3 stripping the EXIF data

Everytime I "save for web" my EXIF data is stripped when using CS3.

I have been told to "save as", instead, but that function doesn't allow me to "save as" jpg's. I assume I must be doing something wrong or have an incorrect preference set.

If I am unable to save my EXIF in jpg's using CS3, can I do so, if I upgrade to CS4?

Thank you.

will take any file (well, most), flatten any layers and convert to a JPG.

To Save as a JPG, the file must be flattened and 8-bits/channel to get the option.

CS4 Save for Web has more options.

You should be able to Save As. Try flattening first.

Stripping the EXIF data is part of the point of Save for Web.

That's what save for web does. On the web every byte counts. If JPG is not in the file save menu it's because you have something going on that's incompatible with that format...layers, 16 bit, etc.

Thanks, folks. It was the 16 bit that was hanging me up. No more problems with "save as", now. EXIF is there, again. I appreciate the speedy replies.

Save For Web can also retain the EXIF data. It's configurable in the SFW interface itself.
