With Filter Factory (FF) it’s no sweat. You can very simply create a grid of any line spacing, color, or opacity. You can put the grid on a layer and move it around to match an impermanent grid and/or place the grid on top or behind other layers so it shows through only in transparent areas. FF, which shipped with PhotoShop at least through CS3, gives you endless such innovative capabilities.
