Does anyone know if there's a way to get Extensis Phototools 3.0 to work with Photoshop CS3?

Sadly not.
There was a major change to the internal workings of Photoshop between CS and CS2. Extensis did not update their plug-in to reflect it.

That is ashame. It's a great plugin. I guess I'll just keep a copy of CS2 installed. Thanks for your reply!

I dropped it after CS because the part I was interested in (Toolbars) didn't work in CS2.

Natalie, I was caught off guard by the name given - Extensis PhotoTools 3.0 - reason is I know of it as onOne Software's PhotoTools 1.0
When I did a search on the Extensis web-site, I found that they had sold it to onOne. With that in mind, the following is posted on onOne's web-site: "The all new PhotoTools 1.0 plug-in for Photoshop CS2 and CS3 comes in two editions - Professional and Standard. Both editions are identical with respect to their feature set and functionality."
So , I would take it that it is compatible with CS3. My question is, how long will it take for it to be compatible with CS4?

Sorry about the misleading advice. The onOne site is here:

The products are mainly compatible up to and including CS4!
Not for what I want though!

You're right about the products from OnOne Software, however, their product is not the same as the Extensis Photo Tools. While it seems they bought(?) the name, the program is not the same.
I guess I'll just continue to run CS2 along with CS3.

PhotoTools died a long time ago. Long before OnOne got the extensis plug-ins. The fact that it works with any of the CS versions is mostly a fluke and thanks to a third party that did the work hacking it to work. Because of changes made in CS3 the hacking was no longer possible. Shame as Adobe really needs to add a button bar to Photoshop. But, if they haven't done it by now I doubt they will.

They have what? Photo Tools has not been updated by its own in probably 5 years. The PhotoTools product now being sold by OnOne IS NOT the same product that we are talking about. The current PhotoTools product is a set of actions and scripts with an interface that applies effects to your images. Has nothing to do with the Photo Tools that Extensis had and OnOne bought and left dead.

Add to that the PixelBender development enviro <

UI Extra: The Adobe X D (Experience Design) team plans to launch a new blog next week, and they tell me they'll be offering more details about how the CS4 UI came to
