Why is it that some PSD files won’t display a visible thumbnail in Bridge?

there’s a size threshold limit in the preferences. something like 20meg by default, but you can set it to whatever you want. maybe that’s it?

I increased the file size to 350 megs and some 200Meg+ files still won’t display as thumbnails.

I tried Curt Young’s suggestion in the Bridge forum:

When in the folder with the problem click on Tools/cache/purge cache for folder xxx. The thumbnails will be then rebuild and see if that solves the problem. Let all the thumbs rebuild completely (spinning arrow on bottom left corner will stop) before carrying out any other operation. You may have a few corrupted files in the cache.

It worked!

nice. thanks bob. i thought it was 20. i now remember it was 200 and i kicked it back because on my old machine it took forever to create a thumb of 200 meg images!

Understandable…if you have one of these fancy Vista 64 babies you’d up it to a gig like I did. <g>
