I installed CS3 under my Administrator username. If I start PS CS3 extended under a different username login, the program starts OK, but will not open any files except camera raw files. The program displays the message "Photoshop CS3 has encountered a problem and needs to shut down...". Even if I save a camera raw image into a psd file when logged in under the different username, I cannot open that file when logged in under the different username.
My question is: Is this normal behavior?
My systems is:
Dell M6300, XP Pro SP3, 3GB ram, 72.3GB free disk space, PhotoShop CS3 extended Version 10.0.1

reset the preferences under the different user name. instructions are in the FAQ.

Reseting (deleting) the preferences file when logged under the different username did not change the behavior I described above.

hmm... any network printers defined on the system? delete them. you can readd them later.

Well, but are your user priviliges set correctly? If you add users post-creation of a folder/ file, they will never inherit any info about that user, thus operating on such directories does fail. The only exception is, when you log on the first time on a freshly created user account, but even then it will only affect user directories and standard system directories. Also remember that to actually do some work you have at least to be a Power User or otherwise you may not have permission to read and write any files, regardless of their location.

Deleting the network printers did the trick. I would never have guessed. Thanks for your help.

Dave,
Maybe there needs to be a "stickie" with a big red neon sign on the fourm with this advice, unless there already is...

I'm having the same frustrating issue.

Thanks
