No, I'm not hitting tab. This one really baffles me.

have you reset your preferences? (not palettes). instructions are in the FAQ section... clears up all kinds of weirdness.

Yes, I did that once this started happening by doing a Alt+Control+Shift as I started Photoshop. That deleted my settings file but still didn't correct the problem, which is why I went to this forum for help. Any other ideas?
