Hi! For a promotional campaign I’m working on, I’d like to take a picture and "break it up" into puzzle pieces, then move those pieces around to mimic the look of them floating into place as the image is completed.

I have a great handle on the "move them around" and "float into place" parts, but I’m having no luck with the puzzle piece end of this. I have posted an image (http://www.flygrandrapids.org/ForumShare.php) that I did previously using blocks. It’s the right effect, but I really want that jigsaw puzzle look to this next one.

Any suggestions on how I can create that effect will be greatly appreciated!

I use CS2 on Win XP SP2

Thanks!

Susan

Search through the Photoshop Exchange here. There are a couple actions there that will do that for you depending on the size of your image.

Best, quickest, most versatile jigsaw puzzle method…the question you have to ask yourself is whether it’s worth the investment?

It looks like this dude did something very much like you describe here: <http://dcj27.home.comcast.net/~dcj27/sect_flash/Puzzle.html> and even went a step further here:

From what he says on the site, he used PanosFX to create the puzzle pieces in Photoshop, and some proprietary software he created to convert the Photoshop stuff into Flash stuff. Here is where he got the PanosFX:
