How do create just a plain old line in Photoshop CS3? I just started yesterday and I’ve figured a lot of things out but the line tool just makes arrows not lines and that’s stupid.

For each tool you select in the Toolbox, items and functions will change in the Options Bar at the top of the screen.

Explore those widgets and menus, and see what they do.

Look up Custom Shapes in the Help Files.

There is an Arrowead option in the Options Bar. It’s in the little black down arrow next to the Custom Shapes icon. Just uncheck it,

Other ways to draw a line:

With the Brush or Pencil tool, click once to start the line, then hold Shift and click on another point to draw the line.

Or, make a path with the Pen tool (make sure it’s a plain old path, not a Shape), and stroke it from the Paths palette menu (or select a painting tool and press Enter).
