I was wondering, how do you blur just the edges of your image in photoshop? I want it to blend more with a black background with a graphic i am doing in Illustrator

What version?

I would do it with a Layer Mask. Make a rectangular selection roughly the size you want and hit the Layer Mask icon on the bottom of the Layers Palette. Filter>Gaussian Blur on the mask only.

The Layer Mask will give you control on the amount or blur without affecting the image itself. You can run Levels on it, resize it, etc.
