Photoshop CS - save selection to a file

Hello,

at the moment, when I'm going to save a part of an image to another file, I do the following:

- select the region I want to save
- goto "edit -> Copy to one layer" (sorry I use the german version, I can't exactly tell, how the english version reads)
- CTRL+N to open a new file
- CTRL+V to paste the part of the image to the new file
- save the file in another file format (e.g. .jpg)

Now I want to automate this procedure. I'm looking for a "save selection to file.." option. Is there any in Photoshop (CS)? Or is it possible to make a macro/script/action that could serve what I'm looking for?

Thanks a lot

It can be recorded as an action:

Make a selection in a psd. Record :: Edit>Copy Merged (that's what it is in English), then File>New. Change the new document dimensions to something larger than you need by far. Paste. Image>Trim Based on Transparency, Top, Bottom, Left, Right.

Set this action to an F key.

Sorry, I only know it in English. Hope it helps.

In case anyone wonders why I didn't just do Paste and have done with it, I found that I was not getting the clipboard dimensions as expected with Copy/New.
