when I draw a line in PS CS3 with the brush tool with my Wacom Volito the line look like this:

Is this supposed to be like this? I did reset the brush palette, changed/combined the dynamic settings and smoothing is on.

Help appreciated.

Why can’t I edit the message I just posted?

OS: Vista 32b updated
Wacom Volito newest vista driver
PS CS3 10.0.1

When clicking on ‘about’ under Pen Tablet Properties the pressure changes so that’s is good.

Could it be that beacuse the Volito has only 512 pressure levels the lines are not that smooth? Next month I’m going to buy the Intuos3 A5. Has anyone examples of lines drawn with this tablet?

Hi Teun

I’m as confused as you as to why you are unable to edit your previous post unless you are trying to edit it quite a bit later as there is a time limit of 30mins.

Anyways I hope this pic helps – sorry about including an issue I’ve been experiencing with PS3 also but there is a slight possibility they are linked in some way.

I am using an intuos3 A5 – be very careful when purchasing one to check and check again that it is working well as I had to have 2 replacements in the first 5 weeks. So far, a month or two on, this one is working so I think I’m ok now.

Check specifically for: A v small raised ridge around the drawing area that catches the underside of the mouse and can irritate your hand (seems this doesn’t effect everyone but is a widespread defect Wacom haven’t been checking for)

If the cursor freezes after lifting the pen from the tablet and then trying to draw again is a known fault not a setting issue.

If the cursor twitches on it’s own (regularly or just once in a while) when you simply leave the mouse on the tablet or take all input tools off/away for the tablet – this can be a fault or interference or driver issue.

Check both the freeze and twitch with Wacom by calling their tech support if you experience it – if you have the ridge and find it difficult to work with, ask for a replacement as Wacom have confirmed it shouldn’t be there.

I also want to say other than those issues the Intuos3 is a great piece of kit 🙂

All the best

if trying to edit the topic starter post, you can’t edit that once a reply is made, even if it was you who made the reply, no matter how much (or little) time has elapsed…

Greg, thanks for the pic. It’s seems you have the same issue. When I draw with the standard 5 pix brush it doesn’t make any difference when smoothing is on or off:

Good tips about buying a tablet.
