I have two images on this web page: www.rickswoodshopcreations.com/miscellaneous/evergreen.htm

The first is the original image that I would like to remove the background from. The second picture is my attempt with the magnetic lasso. It left areas that are very rough, particularly near the base of the flower that seem to include portions of the background. My question is how would a pro do this to ensure smooth boundaries all around and if this is the best that the lasso can do, what else do I need to do to fix the areas that are rough?

Thanks.
Rick

hi rick. suggest you check this google search and go through a couple of these tutorials:

< http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&am p;q=photoshop+selection+tutorial&btnG=Google+Search>

there are several ways to do selections in photoshop and you can combine them to great effect. maybe starting with a lasso or path or even the extraction tool, then cleaning up with the quick mask or one of the other selection methods.
