Adove Photoshop 7.0, Windows XP Pro SP2, Intel Core2Duo 2.4Ghz, 2.0GB DDR2667 Ram, 160GB Seagate SATA HDD, Radeon EAX1600Pro/TD/256MB Video, have second hard drive for data.
Adobe would not open.

Uninstall all Adobe products, edit registry and remove all instances of "Adobe". Install Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and when try to open, it displays loading plugins and preferences, then it gives a little window "Can’t find Workspace folder" and closes.

Thanks
James

First, make sure that you have gotten rid of ALL of your preferences files by manually moving them to the trash, and emptying the trash. Make sure you are set to be able to see all hidden/invisible files and folders:

Next, make sure that you have full admin permissions for the locations where Photoshop installs its files. Reinstall Photoshop. Once you install it—DO NOT MOVE THE APPLICATION FILES!

Just a hunch…maybe this will work.

Went to that link <http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/1>

This is the item that solved the problem:
A2: You can also simply search your hard drive for a *.psp file and delete it. It will be called something along the lines of "Adobe Photoshop X Prefs.psp".

Thanks for all you help

Thanks for posting the solution to your specific problem. It will be helpful to future visitors with the same problem.

Just remember: a standard Uninstall/Reinstall doesn’t get rid of the preferences files. If they were the cause of a problem before, and you don’t ditch them in the process of doing the U/R, the same problem is likely to remain.
