Dear All

I am newbie getting problem in editing the text in a web page template that I downloaded from a free template web site. The page is .psd file, I opened it in photoshop ver 6, went on to those layers which are having text. the layers clearly denotes T , I double clicked on T but as per tutorial I read on a web site, the text is not highlighted or selected, instead the blinking cursor comes over that text and when i try to write something it overwrite the new text over the previous one and previous text is as it is as its before.

I also tried to edit the text by going on vertical tool bar, clicking the T button, and then double clicking on the required text but it also doesnt work. After going through couple of tutorial websites and reading it, I came to know that text layer might be rasterized, I checked in the main menu, the layer is not rasterized and clearly show the letter T.

I would highly appreciate if someone can let me know where the problem is.

I wonder what version of Photoshop the template was created in. Though, in my experience text created in later versions was editable in 6.

How much text do you have? In general Photoshop (ore ImageReady) is not the program to use for HTML text.

Thanks for quick reply Ed Hannigan.

The text is not much, that is just a small paragraph of 4 to 5 lines. But let me tell you that the webpage template I download is from www.templatesbox.com. This website also explains how to edit their web page. It consists of index.psd index.html styles.css template.jpg an image folder containing the images and font folder containing fonts that i copied in my windows folder according to their tutorial.

They have explained on their website the same way to edit the text as I mentioned above.

I am completely newbie to photoshop. Do you have any idea now.

Not really.

What is the purpose of the text? Is it display text, like a logo or a button, or is it "clickable" text?

If the former I would suggest you just make your own Text Layers and discard theirs. If the latter, I suggest that the appropriate place to add the text is in the HTML document.

Why a text layer would not be editable is a mystery to me. Is it locked?

are you highlighting the text layer then clicking on it with the text tool?

The OP said:

"I double clicked on T but as per tutorial I read on a web site, the text is not highlighted or selected"

Sounds very odd.
