Polygonal Lasso Tool

Sometimes I'll accidentally double click when I'm tracing around an image before finishing. Is there a way to go back or recover from that mistake or do I always have to start all over? Which I have been doing. It kills me when I'm half way through a tedious image to accidentally double click. Grrrrr

Use the Pen tool.

Thanks, I'm not used to using that at all. I'll work with it. It could be my saving grace once I get used to it. lol

It isn't the easiest of tools to master, needs a bit of practicice, but the effort in doing so is well worth it.
Have a look on Google for Photoshop Pen tool tutorials.

You really will prefer the Pen tool once you become accustomed to it. In my current position (technical writer) I frequently must extract highly edge-detailed images from photos taken on a factory floor, and the power and flexibility of using paths and the Pen tool save me tons of time and effort compared to using any of the selection tools. Unlike selections, which must be expicitly saved, paths are automatically saved with the image, so the selections can be recreated at any time and modified (as can the paths), converted to channel, etc. Give it a shot.
