When I try to open a large (98MG) tiff file in PhotoShop, I get the following message: "This file may be damaged (the file may be truncated or incomplete)." When I continue, the image appears with a blue line through it. I am, however, able to view the file using Microsoft Office Document Imaging, and the image is perfect.

What’s happening?

Thanks,
Laura

Definitely something wrong with the file. I run into that occassionally and use IrfanView to correct it. In almost every case, IrfanView can open the damaged file and it’s often OK or mostly OK. I re-save it and then Photoshop will open it without complaint.

But I don’t have any idea what actually causes the error.
