I have some text on a transparent background. I want to apply an image over the text so that the image is only within the text lines. Any ideas? Thanks.

That’s one way, but a much better way would be to make a Clipping Mask. Put the image on a layer above the text and Alt-click on the little line between the layers.

That way the text is fully editable and the image can be moved around or resized without causing a problem.
