Here's my original post the cnet article is based on:

Here's another post giving more details:

Here's the response of Adobe's Photoshop product manager: <

Here's another nice writeup:

At the risk of repeating myself: I'm serious. I really want bug reports from professional Photoshop users. Leave them here, send them to the wine-users mailing list (see <
http://winehq.org)>, or file one in our bug tracking system (
http://bugs.winehq.org), any of the three ways is fine.
Thanks,
Dan

keep up the good work dan! :)

Dan,
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond.
Screen shots of the plugin anomoly I was referring to can be found here:
<
http://www.dropshots.com/ardklg#date/2008-02-21>
It's taking about 45 seconds for CS to register all the plugins, compated to about 12 seconds in an XP virtual machine.
Part of that might be due to the fact that I'm running 0.9.50, which is the latest version in the PCLinuxOS repositories.

I've reproduced the plugin cosmetic problem,
and filed <
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11679> for it.
The slow startup happens even with the latest wine,
and is probably hard to fix. Do you often start up
Photoshop, or do you do it like once a day?
Thanks for the excellent problem report.

Kyle, the cosmetic problem you reported (the word 'More' appearing overlapping a pulldown instead of to its right) is now fixed in wine-0.9.60.
Any other Photoshop bugs folks would like fixed in Wine?
#6
Thanks for the update Dan. Now I just have to decide if I'm going to be adventurous and manually install 0.9.60, or wait until it shows up in the PCLinuxOS repositories.
If I run across anything else, I'll speak up.

What linux is advisable to use in order to achieve a better compatibility?
#8
I generally recommend using the latest Ubuntu with the latest wine.
#9
I am not sure what I am reading but did you say that you can run PSCS3 on linux?

#10
No. You can run PSCS2 on Linux fine (except for Bridge). PSCS3 does not install yet.
#11
Thanks for the answer, Dan. I'll try to switch my linux computer to Ubuntu.

FYI - I'm running PCLinuxOS 2007, and it PSCS runs fine on it. As long as you have a current enough version of WINE, I don't suspect it matters much which distro you're running.

I'm running the Wine 1.0.0 for Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy)
I'm able to run the installer for Adobe CS (1.0) - the full package. But none of the applications are running after the installation. Most say that the registration-information is missing (i did type it on installation). 1 or 2 apps say that I should reinstall them as someting was wrong or missing. I tried the reinstall but without any change. There is still not a official 1.1.0 wine for my ubuntu-destrib. My bogus e-mail i - it is useable for the next two weeks or so.
#16
You just need to add the right repository for 1.1.1.
