I had sim problem with CS3 but with Vista not XP! See Technote kb401501 and search how to remove PHotoshop beta from XP! It may be the same process I had to use Microsoft msicuu2.exe to unintall CS3! It was not fun several hours later finally it worked!! If there isn’t anything you could try the same route… Good luck, I hope it helped!

You should try reinstalling from the disk or download and then uninstall.
