CS3 - loading

I am running CS3 on Vista Home Premium. After solving the install problems, i find now that I cannot open CS3. It stops initializing and loading on "Building Twain Menu Items" - shuts down after that. Any suggestions - becoming totally frustrated.

What that message is about is a scanner driver. Do you have a scanner installed?

No I don't - at least I don't think so
