Did you, by chance, install 7.0 to the same folder that 4 was installed to? If so you will need to delete that installation completely and start from scratch.
Adobe upgrades MUST be installed to their own New folder.
You do not need version 4 on your machine to upgrade. Just pop the 7.0 CD into your CD-ROM and install. It will ask for the version 4 CD to verify entitlement.
Dear LenHewitt,
Yes I installed in the new folder. But still yhe same problem. I will uninstall 4.0 and try to install 7.0
Thanx
A. R. Sayed,
Saw this discussion and wanted to ask how your attempt went. I have a new machine, w/o any Photoshop installed on it, but have PS 4.0 on my old PC. Wanted to "upgrade" to 7.0 on the new PC and thought I had to install the old 4.0 first. Could you advise me how your attempt to install 7 went after your removal of 4?
Thank you…
ron, len’s post#1 says it all. you don’t need to install 4. just keep the disk handy and the upgrade will ask you to insert it for verication purposes at the appropriate time.
Dave,
thanks for the input… was worried I would always have to insert the PS4 disk each time I started PS7. appreciate the response to my plea for information.
