PS CS3 Bug? Opening files takes much too long

hello there

am trying out the PS CS3 on my XP system, the system and the computer are very fast and ok, PS CS2 is running safe, fast and proper. But the CS3 now seems to have a problem when opening a file or creating a new document, the time it takes is unnaturally long, after the usual period of opening a file the sandclock-icon of the mousepointer turns back into an arrow and then it takes some seconds until the file opens. It takes definetly too long, i can definetly exclude problems of RAM, cache, system, PC, etc. It is just in CS3 and i hope someone knows what could be the point.

This is a known bug and has been reported many times in the forum.

The solution, weird as it sounds, is to make a generic printer driver your default printer. If you don't have one, download it here:

< http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=p drv&platform=win>

Wow this is really miraculous. It really works, whyever :) it is like you have bad headache and somebody says: move your carpet 3 cm to the right. and then your headache disappers.

this makes me very happy and deleted a very big negative point i had on the CS3 list. it now opens pictures like they would be made out of air, so fast. so you talk about the fascinating world of PS CS3, are there more unfavorable things that i should know?

how many is that now? it's going to be a sad day when the new and improved corporate style adobe uses up all the good karma points that the old fashioned customer focused adobe built up over the years. i hope something changes before that happens!

What do you mean "make a generic printer driver your default printer." Setup a fake printer with a generic driver? or Set my current printer to a generic driver?

Would this help the problem I'm having where my cursor constantly switches back and forth between the tool I'm trying to use and the standard pointer? It's getting so aggravating!

Download that driver and install it. Make it the default printer.

You can still use the others.

I can't see how but it might. That sounds more like a bad mouse/tablet driver.
