Resize in batch

I am trying to resize a number of files in batch. I created a new action and then went to automate. But the files actually end up bigger even though I made the pixel size smaller. Any ideas how to get them to actually get smaller in batch?

From your post, your goal is ambiguous.

Are you resizing the resolution and maintaining the document size? OR
Are you maintaining the resolution and resizing the document size? OR
Are you changing the resolution and document size?

Use the automate web gallery....then pluck from the respective folders.

I dont think i am changing the resolution. I just chaged the pixel domensions under 'image size'
..

Great. That pretty much does the trick. Is there a way to rename the thumbnails in the process? Be great if I could add "small" to the filename.
