Hi,

been trying to make COlor Picker dialog box as a floating popup, but to no avail.

1. can anyone tell me how to do that? or recommend any software that enables me to have a floating Color picker/ Color wheel(like corel painter) floating and when i choose the color, Photoshop identifies it as beign selected? so it must be integrative with photoshop..

2. color wheel alternatives?

thanks

Hello,
Use the Color palette.

BTW, here is a flash movie on choosing color in Photoshop: < http://simplephotoshop.com/photoshop_interface/colorpickerf. htm>

Hi Andrei,

thanks for replying 🙂

but i want to pick on the on the fly from the color picker, rather than click from color palette.. its more spontaneous that way, somewhat like the painter color wheel.

Seth, just click on the tab (color or swatches) and drag them out onto the stage. They will be floating. Is this what you need?

Hi Wesley,

thanks for replying:)

want to use the Color Picker(the big box which popups when you click the foreground color) Dialog box in specific, not a color chooser to be floating.

Can’t be done currently in Photoshop.

It’s been suggested as a new feature; add your voice:

Thanks Phos,

already added my name!

btw, is there any external color selection software that can be integrated into photoshop? ie clicking on a color displayed in the software can change the current foreground/background color automatically ?

Sethelic, this works best if you have 2 monitors to leave the reference image open at all times…

you could create a reference image of the color picker (with screen print) and leave that open. then just move over the reference image, hold down alt (tool will switch to eyedropper) click the image anywhere to select a color.

you won’t get the benefits of all the sliders and stuff, but it sounds like you’re not interested in that anyway.

You could also create a reference image of a colour wheel or a gamut plot like this;
