I am using PS CS2 on windows. I was trying to replace black in a specific item in an image and could not get the color replacement tool to work. I have checked all of my books, help menus and cannot figure it out. Can someone please give me guidance? Thank you

Black is not a colour, therefore you cannot "replace" it with this tool.

Select the black area and reduce its blackness with a levels adjustment layer. Then paint it with the brush in Color mode, or better, add a Solid Color adjustment layer and reduce the opacity and play with the blending mode.

Thanks John, I kind of figured that was my problem, but wasn’t sure. It is good to hear someone else tell me.
