Liquify and memory

I am having difficulty with liquify on large files.

VISTA 64 bit - 8 GBs RAM

My files are 39 MP. When loading into liquify about 2/3 of the way through it starts tiling while presumably the system accesses the scratch disk or page file. Once loaded into liquify, you can only do one or two small mods at a time before the system goes back into swap mode (presumably).

I've tried allocating less memory to make more room for the plug in, and of course max memory. Nothing helps.

I've tested the different memory settings starting PS over each time and the sytem itself has most the RAM available.

Someone please........

Well, it might be that you are using a 32-bit application on a 64-bit OS. Incase you haven't read the system requirements Adobe doesn't offer 64-bit OS support at this time. Probably won't for sometime as it requires an almost total re-write of the application to do it right (Chris Cox claim not mine).

I guess probably should be expected when you are using hardware (the memory) and OSes versions not supported or tested by Adobe.

A good workaround for applying Liquify on large files may be this:

1. Make a size-reduced copy of your image, or layer.
2. Manipulate that the way you want in Liquify.
3. After the manipulation is complete, save the Mesh.
4. Dispose of the copy, and open the real image in Liquify.
5. Apply the saved Mesh to this large image.

Having the large image up is still consuming memory, but at least you don't have to do the editing in this state.

I'm using CS2 with Vista Ultimate 64bit. With a 100Mb file with many layers, PS liquified in real time and had no problem executing the final image. I have 8GB of RAM & five HDs.

Do you not have my email address? I'm not going to post it here, but if you have it, hit me up!

Any luck with the "save mesh" method?

Yeah, actually I did. And also by making layers is sections where that would work...

Thanks!
